Duplicate File Owners
The file owners panels provide an overview of duplicate file allocation by owner. Quickly and easily see the allocation of duplicate file space by user.
On a shared file server, knowing that you have half a terabyte of duplicate files is only half the story - the useful question is whose they are. The duplicate owners report answers it directly, listing every user account that owns duplicate files along with the number of duplicates attributed to them and the cumulative disk space those duplicates consume. Double-click any user to filter the main duplicate file report down to that person's files, ready for review or marking.
That makes duplicate file ownership reporting particularly valuable for administrators managing home directories, departmental shares, and NAS volumes, where storage reclamation is usually a conversation with people rather than a purely technical exercise. Ownership data is gathered automatically as part of the duplicate search, and can be suppressed in the advanced options when scanning large network paths where the extra lookups aren't worth the time.
In addition to the detail view shown above, the duplicate file owners report shows the top users in chart form.
The Top Duplicate Owners chart ranks the users responsible for the most duplication, with the number of entries shown configurable to suit your environment. Like the other Duplicate File Detective graphs, it can be printed, copied to the clipboard, or saved as an image for inclusion in your own storage reports.
