Project Wizard

The project wizard gets your first duplicate file search underway in seconds. Pick a ready-made template, choose where to look, and let Duplicate File Detective handle the rest.

Search quickly by name and size, verify matches with a 128- or 256-bit content checksum, or go after duplicate songs, photos, and documents specifically. Duplicate photos can even be matched by visual comparison, catching the same image after it has been converted, recompressed, or resized. Whichever starting point you choose can be refined later with the file comparison options.

Next, tell the wizard where to search. Browse the file system tree to add local drives and folders, or enter a fully qualified UNC path to include network shares and NAS devices - as many paths as you need, all scanned together.

The remaining steps narrow the search to specific file types and choose the columns that appear in your results report. Both are pre-configured to suit the template you selected, so you can click straight through to the finish line and watch Duplicate File Detective go to work.
