Schedule Duplicate File Reports

Duplicate File Detective provides an advanced, integrated scheduling facility, allowing you to run your duplicate searches on a deferred or recurring basis.

Schedule the creation of duplicate file reports and save them directly to the file system, or email those results to one or more individuals. A scheduled duplicate file report is built from an existing project file, so every search path, exclusion, filter, and comparison option you have already tuned is applied exactly as it would be interactively - the scan simply runs without you.

Each scheduled task names an export path, and the file extension you give it decides the report format: HTML, CSV, XML, PDF, or Excel. Append the date and time to the export file name and successive runs accumulate rather than overwrite, building a history of how duplication on your file servers grows over time. Tasks can also load a saved program options file and write their own event log, which makes unattended runs straightforward to audit.

Schedules can run one time, daily every N days, weekly on the days of the week you choose, or monthly - either on a specific day of the month or on a relative weekday such as the second Tuesday, in whichever months you select. Tasks run under a Windows account you nominate, so a scheduled scan can carry the file system permissions it needs to reach network shares and server volumes.

Finally, finished reports can be emailed automatically to one or more recipients over SMTP, with SSL or TLS security and SMTP authentication where your mail server requires it - and a test message button to confirm the configuration before you depend on it. Recurring duplicate file reporting, delivered to the people who need to see it, with nobody sitting at the console.
